البابا من مالطا: "الإيمان ينمو في الفرح ويتقوّى في العطاء"

As the Pope concludes his visit to Malta, he stresses Malta's role in accommodating refugees trying to survive "in the waves of the sea".

The Pope thanked the authorities and the youth of Malta for their efforts in receiving and assisting the refugees, who are trying to survive.

Below is the text of the speech of His Holiness Pope Francis at the Angelus Prayer in Piazzale dei Granai in Floriana:

Dear Brothers and Sisters!

I am grateful for the words addressed to me by Monsignor Chiclona on your behalf. But I am the one who tells you: Grazie!

I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to the President of the Republic and to the authorities, to my brother bishops, to you, dear priests, monks and nuns, and to all the citizens and believers of Malta and Gozo for the welcome and love with which you have shown me. This evening, after I have met many immigrant brothers and sisters, the hour has come to return to Rome, but I will carry with me many moments and words from these days. And a lot of gestures. Especially, I will keep many faces in my heart, and the enlightening face of Malta! I also thank those who worked hard to prepare for this visit, and I would like to extend a cordial greeting to the brothers and sisters of the various Christian denominations and religions with whom I have met these days. I ask everyone to pray for me. And I will pray for you. Let's

في هذه الجزر يمكن أن نتنفّس الأحساس بشعب الله. سيروا قُدُمًا على هذا النحو، وتذكّروا أنّ الإيمان ينمو في الفرح ويتقوّى في العطاء. اتبعوا سلسلة القداسة التي قادت الكثيرين من المالطيّين إلى أن يهبوا أنفسهم بحماسة لله وللآخرين. أفكّر في الأب الكاهن جورج بريكا، الذي تمّ تطويبه منذ خمسة عشر عامًا. وأخيرًا أودّ أن أوجّه كلمة إلى الشّباب الذين هم مستقبلكم. أيّها الأصدقاء الشّباب الأعزّاء، أشارككم أجمل أمرٍ في الحياة. هل تعلمون ما هو؟ إنّه فرح بذل الذات في المحبّة، هذا الذي يحرّرنا. ولهذا الفرح اسم، وهو: يسوع. أتمنّى لكم أن تعيشوا جمال محبّتكم ليسوع، وهو aإله الرّحمة – لقد أصغينا إليه اليوم في الإنجيل -، الذي يثق بكم، ويحلم معكم، ويحبّ حياتكم ولن يخيّب ظنّكم أبدًا. ولكي نسر قُدُمُا دائمًا مع يسوع ومع العائلة أيضًا، ومع شعب الله، لا تنسَوا جذوركم. تكلّموا مع الشّيوخ، وتكلّموا مع الأجداد، وتكلّموا مع كبار السّن!

May the Lord Jesus accompany you, and may the Virgin Mary protect you. We will now pray to her for peace, as we think of the human tragedy of tormented Ukraine, still under bombardment in this profane war. We do not get tired of praying and helping the afflicted.
